Job Description
Angela’s coffee shop is looking for Baristas to join our team! You’ll prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and other beverages while creating a welcoming experience for every customer. This position is classified part-time, non-exempt with no benefits. This role will not exceed 29 hours a week. The Jewish Community Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Prepare espresso drinks, brewed coffee, iced coffee, tea, and other beverages.
· Follow recipes and portion standards to maintain consistent quality.
· Welcome customers, take orders, answer menu questions, and process payments.
· Keep the coffee bar, service counter, and customer areas clean and organized at all times.
· Restock cups, lids, syrups, milk, coffee, and other supplies.
· Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
· Complete opening and closing tasks.
· Monitor inventory and communicate restocking needs to the manager or shift lead.
· Receive and organize deliveries and supplies as needed.
· Assist with light food preparation, pastry displays, and other café items.
· Work collaboratively with Food Services team members.
· Support other café and Food Services tasks as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· Previous barista and restaurant experience is preferred but not required
· Friendly, respectful, and welcoming approach to customers and coworkers.
· Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
· Willingness to learn beverage preparation, recipes, equipment, and payment systems.
· Ability to work in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail.
· Commitment to cleanliness, food safety, and quality.
· Ability to stand for extended periods and lift approximately 25–30 pounds.
· Food Handler Certification or willingness to be trained for completion of certification. Reimbursement available
· Availability for scheduled weekday and/or weekend shifts.
· Professional in appearance, manner and tone.
· A team player who possesses the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
